What is the
price of kissing in a society which has blurred modern distinctions
of friendship, romance and love? For one young female poet, the
search for the answer takes her through the stylish folds of a
cynical, urban world of jazz clubs and coffee shops only to discover
that the unpredictable answer is within herself. Lyrical and
romantic, this is a magically conceived, passionately subtle,
interracial love story starring Leon, Pauley P., Nicole Eggert, Jon
Seda and Lou Rawls.

This off-beat
and insightful drama explores the confused interrelationship between
love and friendship as it follows four people as they struggle to
sort out their confusing feelings for one another. Renee expresses
her eccentric insights about life through her writing. Larry, Renee's
best friend, runs a nightclub and dreams of getting the opportunity
to sing with the house reggae band. Their close friendship is
somewhat threatened by Renee's roommate Annette who becomes
romantically entangled with Larry. She is unaware of the link between
Larry and Renee and so accepts a job working in the same club as
Larry. Matters get more complex when another new employee, Billy,
falls for Renee. A philosophical sax player stands outside the
tangled situation and offers his wisdom, while a gypsy woman hawks
love potions to help sort out the truth.

For Renee, Larry, Annette and
Billy, the quest for love has been more pain than pleasure - Each has
their share of tangled relationships. Larry, once involved with
Renee, is now interested in Annette. Billy has developed srrong
